We are pleased to invite you to Mysore, India for an in-depth immersion into the traditional methods and philosophy of Yoga with the one and only Srishubha, the daughter of the great Sri T. Krishnamacharya.
Experience the timeless teachings of classical yoga in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya - focusing on breath, movement, and mindful presence, in the land of Yoga’s birth.
Srishubha learned yoga from her father starting from a very early age, and carries the knowledge of Krishnamacharya’s latter years as the modern world’s most influential Yogi.
In addition, we will be studying the text Yogañjalisāram, line by line - a text comprised of 32 slogans written by her father, Krishanamcharya on the subject of Yoga and devotion.
Srishubha will be assisted by Tapan Raj and Joey Paz, 2 devoted students who follow the tradition of Krishnamacharya’s other eras: Tapan presenting the Vinyasa Krama era of the Chennai years, and Joey presenting the Ashtanga Vinyasa era of his Mysore years.
Together, Srishubha, Tapan and Joey will offer a complete picture of the life and teachings of Krishnamacharya from their unique perspectives.
This is an opportunity to dive deep into the traditional systems of yoga as they were developed throughout Krishnamacharya’s illustrious life and career as “The Father of Modern Yoga.”
Yogañjalisāram
Legendary Yogi T Krishnamacharya was an accomplished Sanskrit scholar and poet as well. He composed numerous poems, hymns and commentaries in Sanskrit. Every composition had an occasion behind it, some with intention and some at the request of his disciples. One such literary work is Yoganjalisaram, which is a compilation of verses on Yoga written by him at different times in his life.
The composition, in essence praises Yoga for its contribution in providing physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. This poem very lucidly crystallises the essential message of patanjali's Yogasutra a text that Krishnamacharya greatly respected and based most of his teachings on.
Srishubhha will take us line by line through this text, providing insight and commentary into this beatifult text, which are the essence of Krishnamacharya’s lifelong teachings.
